Halloween is just around the corner, and you know what that means – corn mazes and pumpkin patches!
There’s a lot of them around Denver if you want to have a “sometimes spooky but always fun” time this Fall.

The Scariest Corn Mazes in Denver
Denver has no shortage of challenging corn mazes and beautiful pumpkin patches. Here are seven of the most popular ones:
1. Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Field Farms
If last year was any indication, this year’s maze should be a fun way to test your skills.
The Chatfield Farm Corn Maze is found in Littleton and is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Sept. 16 – Oct. 30.
They also have a mini-maze for the youngsters, food vendors, “barnyard friends”, and escape rooms!
The Chatfield corn maze is seven acres wide, the perfect size for group exploration. You can visit it with friends and family, navigating the more than 43 thousand square feet of corn stalks twice as tall as an adult human that you can see from strategically positioned illuminated bridges.
The Pumpkin Patch is accessible during Pumpkin Festival: October 7, 8 and 9.

The corn maze was very well done (we made sure to follow the map so we wouldn’t get lost with a toddler and did only half of the maze), there was a good selection of food trucks, and a little tractor ride that took us through the gardens.
Lots of clean port-o-potties to use and a large, shaded grassy area to rest. The gardens themselves are very family friendly with tons of little picnic areas, trails to explore, and structures to play on.
Hildebrand ranch was beautiful and my daughter loved the ponies, pig, and chickens. We can’t wait to come back to explore more!”
2. Cottonwood Farms
Thirty miles north of Denver, in a town called Lafayette, lies the Cottonwood Farms. It’s a family-owned farm selling all kinds of produce, including organic water squash and pumpkin.
It’s a great place to pick pumpkins, see huge farm tractors, and observe farm animals. If you’ve been a city person all your life, the location could provide just the temporary change of pace you need.
They have a fantastic corn maze, but their straw bale maze stands out because of its uniqueness. The four-acre corn maze is hand-cut instead of tractor-formed and provides narrow paths to give the illusion of getting lost.
The straw bale maze is a shorter version of the main maze and is built with kids in mind.
“It was perfect for my 6 year old on a hot afternoon. She borrowed one of their red wagons and dragged it all over. She did the kids hay bale maze a few times, we did the corn maze together and enjoyed picking pumpkins in the field.

They also provide a lot of pumpkins near the hay bale maze and farm animals in case a younger kid didn’t want to trek out to the field.
They had a great selection of other gourds, dried corn and unusual looking pumpkins. We picked up a corn stalk too for Halloween decoration.
The staff was really nice and helpful and the prices seemed reasonable.”
3. Maize in the City
Maize in the City is 10 miles north of Denver in Thornton. An insane 20-plus-acre corn maze that will confuse and daze explorers, albeit in a good way.
To make the experience more fun, you can explore the maze through a smartphone game. If you brought kids along, there’s also a mini-maze perfect for them to get lost in!
Children can also go pumpkin picking, play around in the corn kernel box, and use the playground for free (pumpkin prices vary by size).
There’s also a petting zoo, a pony ride, 5 minute escape rooms, and a corn launcher!

4. Fritzler Farm Park
Outside Greeley is a town called LaSalle, a great stop if you want to experience a corn maze extravaganza. Here, you’ll find the traditional Fritzler Farm Park, whose corn maze is wrought with dizzying twists and turns that should scare and excite you at the same time.
There’s a ton of activities to choose from besides the corn maze and pumpkin patch:

5. Mile High Farms
This one’s an excellent option for the kids. The corn maze is a little more on the challenging side. Last year they had horses, llamas, sheep, turkeys, hens, roosters, and several kids activities. They also take you on a fun hayride out to the pumpkin patch.
Mile High Farms is about 30 miles east of Denver off of I-70.
They’re open in October on Saturdays and Sundays.
“Such a fun place! Not packed with people and there was so much to do. The corn maze was difficult and we couldn’t finish it but that’s how I like it.
The hay ride was so enjoyable and they have such a big selection of pumpkins in the patch. Had lots of animals that were so silly.
The only downside was that their website says petting zoo but the animals are behind a fence and don’t like to be touched so there really isn’t any “petting zoo” more like an area to see different animals from a distance. Other than that, loved it!”

6. Anderson Farms
Now, for one of Colorado’s classic outdoor attractions, Anderson Farms. You can find it 30 miles from Denver to the north.
The sprawling 30-acre farm boasts an eight-mile-long maze (Colorado’s longest) packed with all the twists and turns to test even the most honed navigation skills.
Enjoy different games with friends and family, including one where you investigate a crime scene on a farm.
Another involves searching for animal tracks inside the maze. Lastly, there’s the crowd-favorite scavenger hunt, which requires finding 18 different checkpoints concealed within the maze.
Not to worry, though; you won’t need to find all 18 to make it out of the maze.

7. Mazzotti Farms
Mazzotti Farms is a family-owned farm located in Hudson, 30 miles from Denver to the northeast.
The farm is known for its many fun activities to celebrate the harvest season, a longstanding tradition of theirs since 1982. Some exciting activities include the corn maze and pumpkin patch.
The farm is also scare-free, meaning it should be great for kids. It’s not just the maze that delivers during the fall season; the pumpkin patch, scarecrow-making workshop, and petting zoo are also fantastic options.
The farm is open on the weekends through the month of October.
“This place was perfect for our family. It had a fun little corn maze, a petting zoo with some donkeys and ponies, some other fun kid activities, and a large pumpkin patch area. They had a nice selection of pumpkins; there were plenty of large pumpkins to choose from.

The farm is located near The Wild Animal Sanctuary (I think we even heard some lion roars while we were there).
We went on Sunday afternoon and it was never too busy; this is the place to avoid the crowds. Overall, this was by far the best time that we have ever had at a pumpkin patch. We will be coming back here for years to come!”
Bonus – The Scariest Corn Mazes in Denver!
The Haunted Field of Screams in Thornton is being hailed as “Colorado’s largest scream park.”
Their theme for 2022 is based on one of the most haunted roads in the US, the Riverdale Road.
The legendary Riverdale Road, which isn’t too far from the maze’s location, is said to be an opening to hell. Legend has it that it once belonged to a crazy man who killed his entire family before burning down their home. Lynchings are also said to have taken place in the area.

Fritzler Farm’s Scream Acres is another favorite. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the setup and costumes.
**Keep in mind that haunted/scary mazes and houses are designed to startle and scare you. There may be flashing lights, loud sounds, and other unexpected encounters. If you’re sensitive to things like that or have a condition, be sure to call ahead of time and ask the right questions so you don’t have a bad experience.
